Table Mountain National Park is getting ready for an influx of climbers and hikers over the Easter weekend, even deploying aerial resources to keep an eye on things.

Cape Town, South Africa (28 March 2024) – With Easter weekend just one sleep away, the Table Mountain National Park (TMNP) has welcomed the deployment of an airbus H125 aircraft, to support the Sea, Air and Mountain (SEAM) Special Operations Ranger team and ranger corps during the Easter Weekend.

The Airbus H125 rotary-winged aircraft landed in Cape Town this week and set on its first flight in the northern section of the park to support visitor safety and environmental crime prevention operations in hot spot areas. In our effort to ensure visitor safety in the park, TMNP is strengthening its safety and security objectives over the Easter weekend to also educate visitors on the importance of safety precautions and what to do in the event of an incident.

Table Mountain National Park would like to remind visitors:

  • Carry out your activities in groups of 2 or more.
  • Choose your route carefully and stick to it.
  • Allow yourself enough time – start early.
  • Inform someone of your route and what time you’re expected back.
  • Always wear waterproof clothing, and wear walking shoes or hiking boots.
  • Save the SANParks emergency number into your phone before setting off.
  • Table Mountain National Park Emergency Number 086 110 6417. Wilderness Search and Rescue Number 021 937 0300 or dial 112.
